Virginia Rodriguez, age 66, of Wharton, died January 14, 2015, at a Wharton hospital following a brief illness. She was born on April 01, 1948 in Wharton, Texas, the daughter of the late Daniel Rodriguez Sr and Cirilda Rodriguez. Virginia attended public schools in El Campo. She is a graduate of El Campo High School. Virginia was a waitress at an El Campo Restaurant. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church of Wharton. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, action movies, spending time with her nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents her brothers Daniel Rodriguez Jr and Paul Rodriguez and her niece Mary Jane Flores preceded her in death. Visitation was held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Deacon David Valdez will recite the Rosary at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Wharton. Funeral Mass followed the rosary with Father Ty Bazar officiating. Internment will follow at Glen Flora Cemetery. Survivors include her companion Joe Rosales of Wharton, sisters Dominga Loera and husband Martin of Austin, Mary Ann Gutierrez and husband Fred of Houston, Rosa Rodriguez and husband Johnnie of El Campo, Suzie Garza and husband Eduvi Sr. of Wharton, brothers Joe Rodriguez of Wharton, Daniel Rodriguez and wife Sylvia of Ganado, David Rodriguez Sr. and wife Debbie of El Campo, Arthur Rodriguez of Wharton, 17 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Larry Loera, Eduvi Garza Jr, Daniel Rodriguez III, Joseph Gutierrez, Steve Garza, Alex Rodriguez and David Rodriguez Jr.
